Paynter, this single movement work contains three major sections: a slow, mournful opening; a life-affirming middle section; and a reverential third section. The common theme in all three sections is the employment of the Northwestern University Alma Mater Hymn, attributed to Franz Joseph Haydn's St. Anthony Chorale.
