Additional info/contents	The work "The Skydiver" is a musical account of the experiences of a skydiver. It begins with a fanfare. Suddenly, however, the mood changes: the preparations for the skydive are in a minor key. Passionate melodies alternate with dramatic passages. Suddenly the engine of an aeroplane can be heard and an ominous atmosphere spreads. The door opens. When the plane takes off, only a single note is heard and the engine noises disappear more and more. The free fall gives rise to feelings of happiness; the parachutist has the sensation of flying. After a few seconds, the parachute opens abruptly. The events come thick and fast and various cheerful musical passages alternate. Later the music calms down and the parachutist enjoys the soundless gliding through the air. Some strange harmonies illustrate the unusual situation and the hitherto unknown feeling. Later, sinking melodies hint at the landing. The renewed introduction of percussion symbolises that the legs are landing on the ground again.
