Composer Houben, Kevin
Difficulty level 3
Duration 8:50
Additional info/contents Dance into the Sun by composer Kevin Houben was commissioned by the Bande de Música de Felanitx (Mallorca, Spain) to celebrate its 200th birthday in 2020. Felanitx is a municipality in the Spanish province of the Balearic Islands (on the island of Mallorca), known for its wine. The composition arose from a project in which the intention was to combine wine and music. In Felanitx there are 5 wine cellars and for each wine a matching composition was written. The corresponding wine to this composition is the Castell de Santueri Rouge, whose origin is the medieval Santueri Castle. A wine with temperament, fresh and perfect. You can taste the Mediterranean climate. Besides the wine, Felanitx is also known for the sun! Kevin Houben has written this joyful dance in the sun to a Renaissance rhythm. The flute opens the work with a solo and presents the main theme. After the broad opening passage, a feeling of energy and joy emerges, light and sparkling, like a sun-drenched day at the Castillo de Santueri and as a tribute to the riches of nature.
