Additional info/contents It is probably superfluous to try to describe the phenomenon of "Elvis". When hearing the name Elvis Presley, everyone has their own favourite image among the countless iconic images of the "King of Rock 'n' Roll": possibly the young rocker in front of half-powerless female fans, swinging his cymbal; or Elvis in military uniform as an American soldier in Germany in 1958; or a certain scene from one of his 31 feature films; or the corpulent old star, already marked by drug abuse, dressed in a glittering fantasy uniform, singing in Las Vegas after better times; or, or, or ....

The fact is: Elvis Presley sold more records than any other solo artist. He has by far the most gold and platinum awards, 159 in all. Some lists even put him ahead of the Beatles with almost 1.4 billion records sold. Apropos: Without Elvis, the Beatles (like many other greats of rock) would certainly not have existed in this form. John Lennon named Elvis as his main source of inspiration and motivation for going the way he later did with the Beatles. Since then, comparable statements have been heard from countless rock musicians - from the Rolling Stones to Freddie Mercury and Bono.

Seen in this light, a wind orchestra that (also) deals with pop and rock music cannot avoid the topic of "Elvis". Stefan Schwalgin meets this need with a new, fresh medley. Using four stylistically very different Elvis titles, he draws a differentiated musical portrait of the "King".
