Additional info/contents "Le Gratie d'Amore" (The Grace of Love) is a treatise published in 1602 about the courtly dance art of Cesare Negri, a famous dance master at the Milan court of the Renaissance. It contains numerous dance tunes and dance patterns. The melody “Il bianco fior” (The White Flower), which forms the basis for the first movement of this piece, also comes from this collection. It is a lively three-quarter dance that speeds up towards the end and changes to a straight time signature. At the center of the second movement is the solemn, melancholic melody "Vaghe bellezze..." (Veiled Beauty...). Widely swinging cantilenas frame two solos in which the melody is varied and developed further. The third movement is based on a Saltarello theme by Vincenzo Galilei, father of the famous astronomer, Galileo Galilei. With its hypnotic rhythm and its simultaneously sublime and virtuosic character, this movement brings the piece to a close.
