Additional info/contents	The band specifically asked the composer to base the work on a choral-like subject matter. He has done so convincingly: from the very first measures on, a chorale melody is presented by the saxophone register. Then follows a more extensively orchestrated version of the same theme material, after which the melodic themes become more varied - with a few surprising harmonic turns. Next, a spicy allegro comes forward with alternating playful and melodic themes, which are most evident in the baritone and euphonium section. A counterpoint-like built-up passage - performed by the entire saxophone section - prepares for the denouement (maestoso), in which the chorale melody is complemented by the allegro theme.
