Additional info/contents Jazzalogue No.1 was commissioned by the New York Philharmonic for the brass section as an encore piece for their 1997 Latin American Tour. The premiere was given by the New York Philharmonic brass section in May 1997 at Avery Fisher Hall in New York City. The concert was broadcast nationally on radio. Intended to be played without a conductor, the work has subsequently been used by the orchestra's brass section throughout the world.

The piece can either be used at the opening of a concert or as an encore. There is a Latin jazz flavor throughout and should be played aggressively in a Stan Kenton style.
