Additional info/contents	„Challenge“ opens with a gradual bulld-up of a sound marking the beginning. Next to lyrically melodious moments, sharp contrasts and masses of sound determine the piece for the moment. They lead to a very vivid section with a syncopated, pulsating and uniform rhythm. Then a larger dynamic structure is developing. This section is interrupted by a gracefully dance-like episode reminiscent of the beginning. Its extreme condensation of sound then provides the rhythmic energy for the long Intensification towards the finale. Commissioned by the Nordbayerischer Musikbund (North Bavarian Federation of Music) with the generous support of the Stiftung Bayerischer Musikfonds (Foundation Bavarian Music Fund) for the International Festival of Music 2000 in Nuremberg.
