Additional info/contents Der Bach-Zeitgenosse Christian August Jacobi gehört zu den Komponisten, die die mitteldeutsche Musiklandschaft im 18. Jahrhundert nachhaltig mit geprägt haben, da das Wirken des Thomaskantors im Wesentlichen auf Leipzig beschränkt blieb. Jacobis Kantaten sind musikalisch abwechslungsreiche Werke und leicht zu bewältigen. Fünf der sechs Sätze des Weihnachtskantate „Also hat Gott die Welt geliebet“ für Soli, Chor, Streicher und Basso continuo – der Text des Eingangschors ist dem Johannes-Evangelium entnommen – liegen Strophen von Luthers Weihnachtslied „Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her“ zugrunde, was dem Werk einen volkstümlichen Charakter verleiht. Die abwechslungsreiche Instrumentation und der Wechsel von Chorsätzen und Solistenduos verleihen der Kantate eine klangliche Vielfalt, die durch den Einsatz einer Harfe (ad libitum) noch gesteigert werden kann.
