Additional info/contents	A Bluegrass Overture was commissioned by Gabriel Wooley to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Central Kentucky Concert Band in 2016 and financially supported by Leslie and Cathy Anderson. This energetic overture begins with an introduction of loose "bluegrass chords" before a slow chorale is heard in legato in the clarinets and flutes. This is short-lived, however, as a new mood is soon created by an accompaniment with repeated notes. This eventually leads to the main theme with clear syncopations and blues modulations. The central passage features a cantabile melody that frequently changes key before the main theme returns and leads to a triumphant presentation of the previous chorale melody.
