Programme notes *: One day, the Dragon King arranged a banquet to which he invited many of the Immortals. All the guests were beautifully dressed and they got more and more excited as the party started. So it happened that the Divine Flute player came by for a fish tour and played his flute. Miraculously, the ingratiating music came to the ears of the Dragon King. He and all the immortals stopped celebrating and listened to the breathtaking game. The party was over, but everyone was very excited. The Dragon King sent a messenger to locate the Royal Flute Player, and ordered him to take him to the palace. All songbirds accompanied the player and brought color to the palace. At the request of the Dragon King, the Divine Flute player remained a guest in the palace, and he began to teach the King's son to play the flute. Soon, to the great enthusiasm of the king, the pupil showed great abilities. However, after some time, the Divine Flute player became very homesick. His game became less cheerful and the songbirds also forgot the wonderful song as soon as they saw his sad face. With great longing the flute player thought back to the past days. The Dragon King allowed the flute player to return to Five Finger Mountain. The king showed his gratitude to the gifted player through two very simple gifts. It was a bamboo ball that was filled with the tastiest dishes and could never be emptied. The second gift was a raincoat, which spread like wings over the player, they would help him to travel at any time, and bring happiness to every corner of the earth.
