Additional info/contents The title refers to the church of San Rocco, the oldest in Offanengo, built in the first half of the sixteenth century when the plague struck the town between 1527 and 1528. Although it does not have a very interesting exterior, the interior of the church contains several frescoes remarkable on a pictorial level.

The piece is structured in three distinct movements that show contrasting characters. An austere and celebratory atmosphere prevails in the first movement, which opens and closes with a solemn fanfare. The second movement presents simple and serene melodic textures, supported by a constant rhythmic pace. The brilliant dance of the third movement festively closes the composition.

The church of San Rocco in Offanengo, a northern Italian municipality in the province of Cremona in Lombardy, was built in the first half of the 16th century. It bears the traces of a bygone era and was built in a time that was overshadowed by the devastating plague between 1527 and 1528. Despite its simple external appearance, the church hides a rich artistic treasure inside, highlighted by several impressive frescoes. Saint Rocco was venerated as the patron saint against the plague, and the church was probably built in this context to seek protection and consolation for the community.

The external appearance of the church may seem simple, but it reflects the sobriety and seriousness of that time. The 16th century architectural style is evident in the clear lines and solid structures of the church. The simple facade gives the church a modest presence, while its interior is rich in artistic treasures. The true wealth of the Church of San Rocco is revealed upon entering its interior. Several frescoes decorate the walls and ceilings, impressively representing the region's artistic heritage. These paintings, which have been preserved over the centuries, testify to the fine craftsmanship and artistic genius of the painters of that time. The frescoes, although perhaps not signed by notable artists, provide insight into the religious iconography and cultural context of the period. The vibrant colors, biblical scenes and religious motifs create atmospheric depth and bring the church's spiritual heritage to life.

The Church of San Rocco remains not only a historical monument but also a spiritual center for the community of Offanengo. Overcoming the plague and veneration of the patron saint are engraved on the walls of this church, and the frescoes tell the story of comfort, hope and faith in difficult times. In conclusion, the Church of San Rocco in Offanengo is not only an architectural jewel of bygone times, but also an artistic masterpiece that represents the deep connection between history, faith and art in this enchanting Italian city.
