Additional info/contents Peacock Dance is the best loved dance of the Dai Nationality (minority group in China). It's a very graceful and elegant dance, maked by the undulations of the waist and the arms. To the Dai people the peacock is a symbol of happyness, beauty, and honesty. Peacock Dance is usually performed by one or three people. The dance has certain fixed movements, such as imitating a peacock flying from its nest, shaking and sunning its wings.

Wang Hasheng's composition "Peacock Dance" for wind band is a lively and colorful musical representation of the traditional Chinese dance of the peacock. This composition is characterized by its exotic melodies and rhythmic elements, modeled on the elegant and majestic movements of the peacock.

The composition begins with a gentle and lyrical melody that captures the grace and beauty of the peacock. The brass plays an important role here by supporting the melody and expressing it through their dynamic nuances. Little by little the piece gains intensity and is replaced by a fast and rhythmic dance that reflects the lively and exuberant movements of the peacock.

The brass players do their best to authentically reproduce the exotic sounds and rhythms of Chinese music. The composition is characterized by fast tone sequences, lively rhythms and a variety of timbres, which together create a colorful and lively sound image.

Overall, "Peacock Dance" is a captivating and rousing composition that takes listeners into the world of Chinese music and inspires them with its liveliness and emotionality.
