Additional info/contents	Gordon Jacob composed several pieces for military band, the first of which was An Original Suite. The word "original" in the title was included to distinguish the composition from the transcription which made up the majority of the band's repertoire in that time period. The first movement March is characterized by rhythmic staccato motifs. The second movement Intermezzo brings a cantilena-like song melody. The finale Allegro con brio is of an aggressive, virtuoso nature. Simultaneous eighth and triplet rhythms, virtuoso melody lines of the woodwinds and staccato chains of the trumpets determine this effective final movement.
