Additional info/contents	This composition is based on the life of the German equestrian general Hans Michael Elias von Obentraut (1574-1625), who was known for his nerve, loyalty and courage. The person of Obentraut is closely associated with the town of Seelze, where he died a heroic death and a monument was erected in his honour. The work consists of four movements in which various aspects of the historical personality are thematised. What is special about this work is that the first movement (Hymn for a Hero) is available as a light version for a flexible instrumentation. This makes it possible for a youth or beginner ensemble to play together with an advanced wind orchestra. However, the hymn can also be played as a stand-alone piece.
