Additional info/contents	Charles Villiers Stanford ist eine zentrale Persönlichkeit in der Musikgeschichte Irlands und Englands, dessen Werk seit den 1980er-Jahren zunehmend wiederentdeckt wird. In Cambridge, Leipzig und Berlin ausgebildet, nimmt die Vokalmusik innerhalb seines Schaffens eine wesentliche Rolle ein. Selbst Leiter des London Bach Choir, schuf er eindrucksvolle Chorwerke im Geiste der romantischen Chortradition. An deutschen Vorbildern anknüpfend, entwickelte er eine eigene chorische Tonsprache, die sich in The Blue Bird exemplarisch zeigt. Der nur durch das Vorbeifliegen eines Vogels kurz unterbrochenen Ruhe am Ufer eines Sees verleiht Stanford eine überaus stimmungsvolle, geradezu schwebende Atmosphäre.
