Additional info/contents	Im Oeuvre von Camille Saint-Saëns, der vor allem durch seinen Karneval der Tiere bekannt wurde, stellen die zwei Ende 1882 komponierten Chorstücke op. 68 eine echte Besonderheit dar. Vermutlich selbst verfasst, haben ihn die beiden Texte Calme des nuits und Les fleurs et les arbres intensiv beschäftigt. Die beiden Stücke zeigen ihn von einer Tiefe des Ausdrucks, die ihm bis heute oft abgesprochen wird. Das zweite Stück aus op. 68, Les fleurs et les arbres, thematisiert die Natur und die Kunst als Trostspender. Im musikalischen Kontrast zu Calme des nuits etwas bewegter, bietet Saint-Saëns mit solistischen Passagen und melodischen Aufschwünge kurzweilige Vielfalt, bevor er auch dieses Stück im ppp enden lässt.
