Additional info/contents Demands are placed on all registers (woodwinds/brass), ranging from demanding dynamically-differentiated music-making to chamber-musical-interpretative transparency. From the beginning of the introduction, the conductor should pay attention to a homogeneous orchestral sound, to well-tuned trumpets/trombones and, in the further course, to balance of the entire brass register and, above all, avoid too great a dynamic increase. After the introductory fanfare, an interplay between lyrical and signal-like episodes begins as a contrast, whereby a climax with the main idea is to be aimed for only at the end of this section. In the following Andantino, the woodwinds and other solo instruments can bring out their musical qualities. In this, the conductor should strive for chamber-musical transparency in the sense of simplicity and ensure that this character is not blurred with the entry of the percussion at number 9, but that the rhythmic background is effectively integrated as a musical effect. In the recapitulation, attention should be paid to the necessary tension and intensification, but excessive dynamic forcing of the notes, especially in the brass, should be avoided.

The piece "Konzertanter Prolog" was commissioned by the music publisher Rundel with the aim of creating an appealing, festive opening music for upper school wind orchestras.
