Among his important plays, "Das Käthchen von Heilbronn" stands out, a work that not only reflects the romantic era, but also was brought to life musically by a specially composed overture for wind orchestra by Volkmar Müller-Deck. "Heinrich von Kleist's "The Käthchen von Heilbronn", also known as "Penthesilea", takes the audience into a world full of passion, love and intrigue. The story follows the protagonist Käthchen, a young woman who is haunted by prophetic visions and in a tangled love story becomes entangled. The play, set in a medieval setting, explores the themes of fate, love and heroic self-discovery. The play is a prime example of the romantic literature of the time. Kleist uses romantic elements such as the supernatural, mysterious visions and the power of love to create a fascinating atmosphere.
