Composer Scholefield, Clement Cotterill
Arranger De Haan, Jan
Difficulty level 2
Duration 3:27
Additional info/contents The song, which Clement Coterill Scholefield (1839-1904) titled "Evening" in 1874, is still sung in England today as The Day Thou Gavest, Lord, Is Ended. In Germany the melody is also very popular and has been accompanied by various lyrics, including the titles Der Tag, mein Gott, ist nun vergangen or Der Tag ist um, die Nacht kehrt wieder.

Jan de Haan's arrangement of C.C. Scholefield's Evening Song, a famous, originally English melody, works extraordinarily well for wind band. The piece features "Bugle Calls" which can be played by trumpeters offstage or strategically placed throughout the auditorium.
