Programme notes *: This suite in five parts by the famous Russian wind music composer Salnikov is remarkable for its brilliant composition technique and its superb inspiration. Original Russian themes have been linked in a sparkling suite, the orchestration however sounds French. Anyway the composition is not too complicated. Many of Salnikov's works are thematically influenced by Russian folklore, including Children's Suite. Original Russian themes are processed into a charming, high-contrast suite. The instrumentation is extremely differentiated and allows almost all registers of the wind orchestra to appear as soloists. Quelle/Source: Molenaar
