Composer Král, Johann N.
Arranger Tanzer, Sepp
Difficulty level 2
Additional info/contents Johann Nepomuk Král, born in 1839 in Mainz, died on New Year's Day 1896 in Tulln, worked as a military bandmaster mainly in Vienna. He wrote the Bruck Camp March op. 51, his most successful composition, in 1874 in Bruck an der Leitha, where there was an important infantry training camp. On September 11th of this year, the march was performed in Vienna's Volksgarten as part of a concert in which Eduard Strauß and Král worked together, and it soon became so popular that M. Klinka accompanied its melody with lyrics about camp life. Even today, this piece inspires with its rousing and catchy melody. The arrangement for wind orchestra is by Sepp Tanzer.
