Additional info/contents This work is based on the life of the painter Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), who was also a sculptor, inventor, philosopher and explorer. Who does not know his famous "Mona Lisa" or "The Last Supper"? The composer used Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks (also known as "Codici") as a source of inspiration, and the work programmatically follows the events and steps in the artist's life. An incredible piece of music in which you think you can touch the artist and feel his drive for innovation and his passion, which made him one of the most important and interesting opinion makers of the 16th century.

Leonardo da Vinci is considered one of the most famous polymaths of all time. His name affix da Vinci is not a family name but a name of origin and means "from Vinci", but this designation of origin was taken as part of his name and used by Leonardo da Vinci himself in his signatures ("di Leonardo de Vinci"). The birthplace of Vinci is a fort or fortified hilltop village located near the town of Empoli (about 30 kilometres west of Florence) in what is now the province of Florence, Tuscany region.

Leonardo not only created numerous works of art, but also a large number of designs for buildings, machines, art objects, paintings and sculptures, which he never found the time to realise. He said of himself that he loved the idea more than its execution, and that at the beginning of an activity he was already thinking of the end. Doing and realising were equally important to him. At times, his drive was paralysed by his great urge to research. At first, he wanted to learn to create masterpieces of art. More and more, however, he became interested in the knowledge of nature and was fascinated by its diversity and beauty.

Impressive are also the prophecies he wrote in his old age: "On earth you will see creatures fighting each other incessantly, with very heavy losses and numerous deaths on both sides. Their guile knows no bounds. In the vast forests around the world, their cruel members cut down vast numbers of trees. Once they are stuffed with food, how will they satisfy their need to inflict death, gloom, despair, terror and exile on every living being ... O earth! What are you waiting for to open up and tear them into the deep crevices of your great abysses and your caverns, and show no more to the face of heaven such a cruel and terrible monster!"
