Additional info/contents	This symphony movement is a special jewel in Beethoven's great coeuvre. Simple and yet artistic, calm and yet haunting. Despite the many delicate string passages, this movement is astonishingly well suited for transfer to brass ensemble. The trombone section with low tuba sounds just as dark in the opening bars as the low strings, the horn then draws long melodic arcs, and the two piccolo trumpets not only play high, but bring an even more delicate timbre to the ensemble. If one follows Beethoven's metronome - which, according to Beethoven, should not be followed too strictly - the movement lasts over 7 minutes.
