Programme notes *: Austrian music educator, conductor and composer Fritz Neuboeck regrets that there is mostly pop music in the repertoire for young bands. It is reasonable to use this kind of music in the musical education of adolescents, but often there is a sudden confrontation with classical repertoire as they advance into the concert band. Fritz Neuboeck wanted to offer young musicians an introduction to this kind of music and composed “Fanfare, Canto & Danza”. The first movement “Fanfare” is rather festive, whereas “Canto” sounds very lyrical and “Danza” offers a sweeping finale. Due to his longtime experience, Fritz Neuboeck created three educationally reasonable movements, which are both challenging and appealing.
