Programme notes *: The work conveys an atmospheric picture of the city of Los Angeles, starting from Pandora Avenue, where the composer repeatedly stays in his flat for longer periods during stays in the USA. The first impression is overwhelming, a fascinating city with pulsating life and typical Californian flair. With the convertible, you turn from Pandora Avenue into Santa Monica Boulevard and from there explore the surrounding area. At every turn you are reminded that you are in the movie metropolis of the world. Light signs, billboards and of course the buildings of the film studios and the Kodak Theatre pass by. The drive takes you along Mulholland Drive up to the Hollywood Hills, from where you have a magnificent view. Los Angeles also has quiet places to discover, small cafes and restaurants where you can relax. Even in the evening and at night, the city hardly calms down and you can indulge in the feeling of the 50s at Mel's Drive In. All these scenes and moments are musically expressed in the composition and convey the unique atmosphere of this fascinating city.
