Additional info/contents In his work, the composer arranged the Austrian folk song "O du lieber Augustin" (O dear Augustin). The theme of the song is recognisable again and again in varied form and character. Augustin, a balladeer and impromptu poet, is himself named as the author of this folk song. His gallows humour and his attitude to life, that one can survive anything with humour, are well recognisable in the composition. This work was awarded a prize at the Austrian Composition Competition 2010.

Marx Augustin or Der liebe Augustin (actually Markus Augustin; * 1643 in Vienna; † 11 March 1685 ibid.) was a balladeer, bagpiper, bagpiper, extempore poet and city original. He became proverbial and a so-called winged word through the ballad "O du lieber Augustin". To this day, the figure of dear Augustin is the epitome of the fact that you can get through anything with humour. Little is certain about Augustin's life. Augustin is said to have been very popular because he cheered up the population of the city with his dirty songs, especially during the plague in Vienna in 1679, which is why he was known in the vernacular only as "Lieber Augustin". The folk song O du lieber Augustin is only documented in Vienna around 1800. However, this very common melody is older, as is documented in a musical manuscript from 1720. Augustin himself is sometimes mentioned as the author, but the origin is unclear.
