Additional info/contents Catalonia is an "Autonomous Community" in Spain. The Catalonians are a proud people and love their region. Considering its warm climate and beautiful coast, that is no surprise. One of the many beautiful cities in that area is the Catalonian capital Barcelona, with its famous architecture. Besides soccer, music is very important. As there are just a few symphonic orchestras in Spain the numerous concert bands adapt great works, like by Strauss, Berlioz or Stravinsky, for their nightly concerts. Cataluna is a capriccio with several Spanish and Catalonian influences, giving an impression of such of nightly concert. In the beginnin we hear 'La Fiesta' as goings-on in the streets and in the arena. A signal 'La Señal' asks for silence before a popular dance -a 'Habañera' resounds. After another signal the musicians play a lively paso doble'La Corrida', which symbolizes a bullfight, while the moon rises in the night sky. A festive parade 'La Revista' closes the piece.
