Additional info/contents With Bonaparte, Otto M. Schwarz has created another major programmatic work for wind orchestra after successes such as Man in the Ice, The Count of Monte Cristo and Nostradamus. This time he took Napoleon Bonaparte as his theme. The composition describes great battles and victories, but also darker chapters in the life of the French ruler, such as his exile on Elba and the fateful Battle of Waterloo, as well as Napoleon's private life. Exciting from the first to the last note!

Programme notes *: additional text

This programmatic composition by Otto M. Schwarz reflects the adventurous life of the historical figure Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon is probably the best-known Frenchman of all time. During his lifetime he developed exceptional military talent.

During the regime of Napoleon, campaigns arose against a number of countries. Various areas in Europe, including the Netherlands, were taken over, so that the face of continent was changed. Only the campaign to Russia and the following Battle of Leipzig led to a great defeat, after which the end to Napoleon's rule finally came. He was exiled to the isle of Elba in 1814, but escaped in 1815, and returned to France. The period of a Hundred Days dawned: Napoleon tried to restore his power in Europe, but he was finally defeated during the legendary Battle of Waterloo. Napoleon was exiled to the isle of St. Helena, where he died 1821.
