Additional info/contents Fiesta! is a youthful and happy piece by the Upperaustrian composer Fritz Neuböck. The reasoning behind the first free bars (free – approx 10 seconds) is that the music develops from kind of a soundscape. This means that the noise flows into the first properly written bars and then fades away slowly. It is up to the conductor how to create this soundscape. Then it is the turn of the “banda”, the orchestra proper. The guests of this festival (namely the FIESTA!) are to be thrilled by both infectious and dreamy music.

The term “Fiesta” comes from Spanish and literally means “feast” or “celebration”. In music, "fiesta" is often used to describe a lively and rousing atmosphere, often associated with Latin music, particularly salsa, merengue, bachata, or other traditional rhythms. A fiesta can mark various occasions such as weddings, birthdays, festivals or simply social gatherings where music, dancing and a happy atmosphere are the focus.

In musical interpretation, a fiesta often includes lively rhythms, spirited melodies and infectious beats that encourage listeners to dance and celebrate. Instrumentation can vary by style and region, but can typically include drums, percussion instruments, wind instruments such as trumpets and saxophones, and guitars and basses. The music is often energetic and full of joy, and the lyrics can be about various topics such as love, friendship, joy or everyday life.

A fiesta in music is not only an opportunity to celebrate, but also a way to celebrate cultural traditions and identities. In Latin American countries, fiestas play a central role in social and cultural life and are often associated with specific religious or cultural celebrations. Music is an integral part of these celebrations and helps create an atmosphere of community and cohesion.

However, fiestas in music do not only take place in Latin American countries. The term "fiesta" has spread across borders and is also used in other musical genres and contexts to describe a similar atmosphere of celebration and cheerfulness. Whether in Latin American music, jazz, pop or even classical, a fiesta always represents a time of celebration, coming together and expressing the joy of life through the power of music.
