Additional info/contents Once upon a time in northern America. A mother and her young daughter lived there with the Ojibwa Indian tribe. The girl was repeatedly plagued by bad nightmares. So the woman sought advice from the spider woman Asibikaashi, who protected people by weaving a magical web. This “dream catcher” decorated with sacred feathers allowed only good dreams to pass through, and bad dreams were supposed to be burned away by the first rays of sun in the morning. In this fascinating programmatic work you can follow the story down to the smallest detail, which is a fantastic concert experience!

Once upon a time in northern America. A mother and her young daughter lived there with the Ojibwa Indian tribe. The girl was repeatedly plagued by bad nightmares that caused her to wake up crying at night. She could hardly sleep and was therefore tired and exhausted during the day.

The mother was very worried about her daughter and desperately wanted to help her. So she sought advice from the spider woman Asibikaashi, who was known in her community for her wisdom and skills in dealing with spirits. The spider woman patiently listened to the mother's worries and promised her that she would do something to help the girl.

Asibikaashi went into the forest to look for the right materials she needed for her work. She gathered willow branches, formed them into a ring, and spun a magical web of spider silk on them. She decorated the ring with sacred feathers, pearls and other beautiful things. When she was finished, she had created a beautiful dream catcher.

The spider woman explained to the mother that the dream catcher should be hung above the girl's bed. The net would only allow good dreams to pass through, while bad dreams would be caught in it. In the morning, when the first rays of sunlight touched the dream catcher, the bad dreams would burn away and disappear.

The mother followed the Spider Woman's advice and hung the dream catcher over her daughter's bed. On the first night the girl slept peacefully and without nightmares. She woke up in the morning refreshed and happy and told her mother about the beautiful dreams she had had. From then on, the girl no longer had nightmares and slept soundly every night.

The dream catcher became a popular and valued symbol of protection in the Ojibwa Indian community, and many families hung a dream catcher over their children's beds. Even today, many people still believe in the protective effect of the dream catcher and use it to protect themselves from bad dreams.
