Additional info/contents	Diese 3 Impromptus sind ausgezeichnete Beispiele für einen Komponisten in voller Meisterung seiner Kunst, fähig, auf jedem Schwierigkeitsgrad schöne Musik zu schreiben. Impromptu I (ohne Widmung, aber höchstwahrscheinlich für einen/e Studenten/in), schrieb Richard Lane im Dezember 1972, im Alter von 39 Jahren. Impromptu II schrieb er im Juni 1977 für Eric Neumann der berichtet: 'Richard Lane widmete mir dieses Stück als Belohnung für meinen erfolgreichen Diplomabschluss. Ich studierte drei Jahre bei ihm Komposition und als mein Klavierlehrer emeritierte, übernahm er auch den Klavierunterricht. Ihm verdanke ich, dass ich an der Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, seine alma mater, aufgenommen wurde. Dieses Impromptu II konzipierte er in Bezug auf meine damalige Fingerfertigkeit in den schnellen Passagen und auf meinen besinnlichen Geist für die langsameren.' Impromptu III wurde neun Jahre später geschrieben und ist Dahwei Kuo gewidmet, sicherlich auch einer seiner Schüler. Ein elegantes, fröhliches und humorvolles Stück, mit einigen subtilen technischen Herausforderungen. Die zahlreichen noch unveröffentlichten Klavierwerke (auch für 2 Klaviere oder 4-händig) sind gelungene Stücke, die in den kommenden Jahren nach und nach exklusiv bei Editions Bim herausgegeben werden. The 3 Impromptus by Richard Lane are excellent examples of a composer in full possession of his craft, an accomplished musician capable of writing beautiful music at any level of difficulty. Lane composed Impromptu I (no specified dedicatee but most likely written for one of his students) in December 1972 at the age of 39. The Impromptu II is dated June 1977 and was written for Eric Neumann who writes: '[...] This Impromptu II written for me was a graduation present. I had studied with Richard Lane for three years, starting with composition. After my piano teacher retired, 'Dick' agreed to teach me piano to prepare for college auditions. With his support, I was accepted at the Eastman School of Music, his alma mater. The work was written as his impression of my finger dexterity in the fast sections and my contemplative spirit in the slower section.' The Impromptu III was written 9 years later (Oct. 1986) and is dedicated to Dahwei Kuo, most certainly also a Richard Lane student. A light, elegant piece with an impish sense of humor and some technical challenges thrown in for good measure. Richard Lane composa son Impromptu I (non dédicacé, mais très probalement dédié à un/e de ses élèves) en décembre 1972 à l'âge de 39 ans. L'Impromptu II date de juin 1977 et fut écrit pour Eric Neumann qui écrit: 'Richard Lane m'a dédié cette pièce en guise de récompense après l'obtention de mon dipôme. Initialement il m'a enseigné la composition durant trois ans, mais lorsque mon professeur de piano partit en retraite, il m'a également préparé aux examens d'admission pour les classes de piano des écoles supérieures. Grâce à lui, j'ai été admis à l'Eastman School of Music de Rochester, NY, son alma mater. Cet Impromptu II a été conçu par rapport à son évaluation de ma dextérité pour les passages rapides et mon esprit contemplatif pour les passages lents.'
