Composer Evans, Billy G.
Difficulty level 4
Additional info/contents Instrumentation: Band Method

Volume 3 includes several advanced problems in the areas of ensemble reading and performance. These include smaller rhythmic divisions, more complex syncopation and asymmetrical meters in the area of rhythm while in pitch the use of extended ranges, modalities, distant modulations and chromaticism challenge the abilities of advancing players. Additional attention is also needed in dynamic balance between the parts as well as expressive articulation within varying formal and phrase structures. Instrumental parts added from Volume 2 include second flute, alto clarinet, second alto saxophone, third trombone, timpani and mallets.
