Programme notes *: Folksong-Reloaded was composed for the international composing competition organised by the Alberschwende (Vorarlberg) Music Association to celebrate their 200year anniversary. Competition rules stipulated that folk songs from the Vorarlberg region were to be incorporated into the piece. Such folk songs as 'Schwegelpfeifermarsch', the 'Montafoner Nationaltanz', 'Monferine' and 'Wunderschön – Prächtige' can be heard in various rhythmic and harmonic variations. The individual songs (as well as their respective overtones) blend seamlessly into each other to create a modern concert piece of interest for both youth bands and middle-level bands. The piece consists of a quick beginning section, an expressive, slow middle section and a lively ending. The piece was awarded the special prize for Best Composition in the difficulty level 1-3.
