Additional info/contents Basically works of the EXPLORA series are easy in terms of form and structure, as they were especially composed for young bands or smaller groups. This does not imply, however, that this kind of music must sound to be simple. OLYMPIC TUNE, for example, relies on modern techniques of composition, and the subject is also of current impact. Its main motif could be taken from a science fiction movie, and in addition to the different wind instruments, the percussion section also plays an important role. The main motif in the first two measures is through-composed as far as possible, and it also is the central theme throughout the entire piece.

The composition "Olympic Tune" by Thomas Berghoff is a fascinating work that cleverly uses modern composition techniques to address a current topic. The composition takes up a main motif that seems to have been taken from a science fiction film and this motif runs like a common thread through the piece.

A notable feature of "Olympic Tune" is the way Berghoff uses various brass instruments to create tonal diversity. The wind instruments are not just accompanying voices, but play an important role in the development and reinforcement of the main motif. This variety of wind instruments gives the composition a dynamic and multifaceted soundscape.

Another standout element of "Olympic Tune" is the role of the drums. Berghoff cleverly integrates the drums into the composition and gives them an important function. The drums drive the piece forward, giving it energy and providing a certain tension that supports the theme of the piece.

The main motif, which is introduced in the first two bars, is through-composed and forms the basic structure of the composition. This consistent presence of the main motif gives the piece coherence and unity, while at the same time leaving room for variation and development.

Overall, "Olympic Tune" is an impressive composition that cleverly uses modern composition techniques to address a current topic. The use of various wind instruments and the important role of the drums contribute to the complexity and dynamism of the piece, while the main motif acts as a common thread through the composition and holds it together. With "Olympic Tune", Berghoff has created a work that is both sonically and thematically captivating and takes the audience on a sonic journey.
