Programme notes *: Cupid is the name given in Roman mythology to the god of love Amor. After an introduction filled with power and energy, the melody changes into a heavy and serious melody, which is taken over by the woodwinds with grace and grace. The second part of the overture (main theme) begins solemnly and vividly, describing the urge and momentum of passion. In the slow middle section, various solo instruments lead into a fortissimo, which presents with warmth, strongly moving emotions. The third part, which builds up gradually, leads into a heroic and brilliant main theme, which ends in the last bars with the introductory theme and a concluding virtuoso part.
