Der Kiavierzyklus stellt eine Kombination verschiedener Kompositionstechniken dar: Seriell, modal (hexatonisch) und auch frei. Trotzdem sind alle Stücke auf das gleiche Tonmaterial zurückzuführen und motivisch miteinander verwandt.
