The three Chinese folk songs were arranged for wind orchestra by Robert Jager and offer a fascinating insight into traditional Chinese music. These arrangements are of great importance as they make the rich musical culture of China accessible to a wider audience.

1. "The Wind" is a traditional Chinese folk song that describes the beauty and power of nature. In Robert Jager's arrangement for wind orchestra, the song is vividly portrayed through the use of woodwinds and brass. The melodies are flowing and lyrical, and the harmonies are rich and colourful. The piece conveys a sense of calm and serenity, inviting the listener to enjoy the beauty of nature.

2. "Send Jin De Ma" ("A Maiden") is a Chinese folk song that tells the story of a young woman who misses her lover. The melodies are delicate and sensitive, and the harmonies are warm and touching. The piece conveys a sense of longing and desire and takes the listener on a journey through the emotional world of the protagonist.

3. "A Love Song of Kang Ting City" is a well-known Chinese folk song that describes the love between a young man and a young woman in the city of Kang Ting. In Robert Jager's arrangement for wind orchestra, the song is presented in a lively and rhythmic way through the use of brass and percussion instruments. The melodies are joyful and catchy, and the harmonies are lively and dance-like. The piece conveys a sense of joy and exuberance and gets the audience dancing and singing along.
