Their search and finding, their joy, their dreams and amazement are the elementary, life-affirming content of this programmatic composition. The majestic introduction is followed by a cheerful, melodic part with very medieval-looking sections, partly tutti, partly solo. The subsequent slow part exudes calm and majesty. Loud timpani beats and brass sounds suddenly interrupt this calm - and then make room for a lyrical part with a solo baritone/tenor horn and intermediate melodies in the wood. This part increases to a full sounding forte in the high brass and trombones. A cheerful Vivo leads back to medieval sounds, but determined by modern rhythms. And finally, “Saga” ends with a lively furioso.
