Additional info/contents (Rhapsody from Friesland) Friesland (Fryslân in the Frisian language) not only has its own language, but also a rich culture of its own, in which centuries-old folk songs have always played an important role. This rhapsody is made up of some of these songs and is stylistically similar to the well-known 'Rhapsody from the Low Countries' by the same composer. After a solemn introduction, you first hear a happy dance song (De Boalserter merke) and then a second, more melancholic theme (It Aldershûs). Afterwards you will hear a short chorale with a melody from the 16th century. The next theme (Wâldsang) has the character of a barcarole and is attributed to Mozart. The finale is a kind of tarantella that requires a certain virtuosity from the wind orchestra (Yn 'e Snitser note).
