Additional info/contents
Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio is Giuseppe Verdi's first opera, composed to a libretto by Antonio Piazza reworked by Temistocle Solera. Originally it was probably a libretto entitled Rochester or Lord Hamilton for which Verdi had composed the music in 1836, later used for Oberto. The first performance took place during the opera season at La Scala in Milan on 17 November 1839 with good success.
