Additional info/contents Kurt Gäble composed "Euregio" as a commission for the 1st Euregio Music Festival in 1999.
The horn, previously used as an instrument for communication, is intended in this work to serve as a symbol of understanding between the regions and their people. A modern tonal language and a fundamental rhythm that drives forward represents the visionary goal of a diverse, cultural and yet unified Europe.
The Euregio "via salina" consists of the border regions of Allgäu (Bavaria), Ausserfern (Tyrol) and Kleinwalsertal/Bregenzerwald (Vorarlberg). The aim of this community is to promote cross-border cooperation and people coming together.
At the 1st Euregio Music Festival in 1999, musicians from these three regions united for the first time to form a selection orchestra, the Euregio Wind Orchestra (EBO). This ensemble premiered Kurz Gäble's fantasy "Euregio" at a gala concert.

The term "Euregio" is a combination of "Europe" and "region" and primarily refers to cross-border cooperation and networks between regions of different countries within Europe. This form of cooperation aims to overcome barriers between borders and create a closer connection between the territories involved. The term “Euregio” therefore stands for a cross-border partnership and intensive exchange at the regional level.

The idea of a Euregio goes back to the desire to overcome historical conflicts and promote cooperation between European regions. Especially after the experiences of the two world wars in the 20th century and the desire to create a closer union in Europe, Euregions were developed as instruments of cross-border cooperation. The primary goals of a Euregio are to promote cooperation, communication and coordination between the participating regions. This refers to various areas such as economy, education, culture, environmental protection and health. The aim is to bring regions closer together through the exchange of best practices, the development of joint projects and the creation of networks.

There are numerous Euroregions in Europe that cover different regions and countries. A well-known example is the Meuse-Rhine Euregio, which includes parts of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. Another important Euregio is the Euregio Rhine-Waal, which connects German and Dutch regions on the Rhine. Each Euregio has its specific challenges and goals tailored to the needs of the areas involved.

Cooperation in a Euregio also brings with it challenges, including different legal systems, languages and cultural peculiarities. Nevertheless, Euregions provide a space for exchanging experiences, harmonizing standards and creating common institutions to overcome these obstacles. The EU supports many Euregions financially and through political framework conditions. Euregions make a significant contribution to the economic development of the regions involved. Creating a common economic space and promoting trade and investment creates new opportunities for businesses. The sharing of resources and expertise strengthens the competitiveness of regions at the international level. A key aspect of Euregios is the cultural exchange between the regions. Joint cultural events, educational programs and the exchange of artists strengthen understanding and solidarity between the residents of the Euregio.
