This technique goes beyond classical variation, as it not only alters melodic or harmonic elements but also fundamentally transforms structure, timbre, and rhythmic design. The goal is to modify musical material in such a way that it acquires a new meaning or effect without completely losing its original core. Metamorphosis in music can be understood both as a compositional technique and as a conceptual approach that relates to the representation of processes of transformation—be it in nature, in human consciousness, or in spiritual experiences. A well-known example is Richard Strauss's work "Metamorphosen" for 23 solo strings, which deals with the destruction of German culture during the Second World War.
