Additional info/contents	The signing of the Élysée Treaty between Germany and France on January 22, 1963, marked the beginning of intensive cooperation and deep friendship, as well as the reconciliation of two peoples after decades of conflict. Alliance Day celebrates this treaty and uses the German and French national anthems as compositional material. The two anthems, representing their respective nations, are transformed over the course of the composition, symbolizing the path to unity. The piece alternates between intense, lyrical, serene, and melodic passages. The orchestral climax culminates in a veritable explosion of sound, culminating in a grand finale.
