Additional info/contents
Saint Lambert was commissioned by Chr. Muziekvereniging Jeduthun Oldemarkt for its 110th anniversary (1905-2015). The work is based on the legend of Saint Lambert. In the seventh century, he was appointed Bishop of Maastricht. The work begins with the main theme, followed by the sacred theme. The first part depicts the unstable political situation that ultimately leads to Lambert's exile. In the second part, we see Lambert braving the snow and cold while continuing to murmur his prayers. This miracle leads to his eventual canonization. The third part is Ascension Day in Oldemarkt, where the Lambert Market is held and we hear the Bach chorale "Als Vierzig Tag nach Ostern."
