Additional info/contents	The tragic yet comical character of Dällebach Kari is a legend in Switzerland. The impossible love story of an outsider never ceases to move people and is the perfect template for an emotional musical. Because of his cleft lip and the speech impediment that comes with it, Kari was excluded at school. Later, he fought for recognition with a biting wit and opened his own hairdressing salon in Bern's Neuengasse in 1900. Suddenly, luck seemed to be on his side: a daughter from a good family, Annemarie, fell in love with him. But their love was doomed to fail; Annemarie's parents forbade the relationship. As a result, Kari became increasingly addicted to alcohol and became a well-known character in the city thanks to his stories and anecdotes. He eventually fell ill with cancer. On the evening of July 31, 1931, Kari threw himself to his death from the Kornhaus Bridge in Bern. But even after his death, he lived on as a legend.
