Composer Takahashi, Hitoshi
Difficulty level 3
Duration 5:57
Additional info/contents In Japan, Wisteria is called "Fuji." Wisteria is a climbing plant with long, hanging clusters of fragrant purple or blue flowers. The wisteria plant is very popular in Japan and is often grown in gardens, parks, and temples. The word "Fuji" also often appears as a personal name or family name.
The wisteria plant, or wisteria, has a long and significant history in Japanese art and literature. It is often used to represent the beauty and elegance of nature. In painting, for example in Ukiyo-e, a traditional Japanese wood carving art, images of wisteria in spring or summer can depict scenes of tranquility and beauty.
In Western art and literature, the wisteria plant is also often used as a motif to depict an exotic or oriental atmosphere. It can appear in paintings, photographs, poems, and novels to suggest a subtle elegance and a touch of Japan.
In this flugelhorn solo, the first theme was inspired by the shape and name of the wisteria plant. The second theme of «Wisteria» expresses Hitoshi Takahashi's personal impression when looking at this plant and the cadence describes it in full bloom.
