Composer Crepaz, Matthäus
Difficulty level 4
Duration 12:50
Additional info/contents This composition was commissioned by the Raiffeisenkasse Kastelruth – Ortisei. The title “centum triginta” (one hundred and thirty) refers to the bank’s 130th anniversary.
The composition describes in six parts some interesting personalities and events that concern the Raika Kastelruth – Ortisei.

At the beginning, the main motif of the entire composition is presented: a noble and noble melody that musically interprets the spirit and honorable idea of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen.
In the second part (from letter “D”), industry meets the Raiffeisen idea. In that time around 1850, large factories, industries and capitalism dominated the economy. The moral coldness and unscrupulousness are onomatopoeic with industrial noises until, as if from nowhere, you hear the “Raiffeisen melody”, which makes its way through a solid layer of asphalt like a fine blade of grass.

A celebratory fanfare (from "H") describes the founding of the Raiffeisenkasse Kastelruth in 1890. The "Raiffeisen melody" is introduced in a slightly modified form by the brass, taken up nobly by the wood and finally brought to a close with great determination.
This is followed (at "K") by the musical interpretation of a special woman: Johanna Rabanser, the pearl of the Kassa, as she was called. She must have had a certain aura and was, it seems, very much appreciated by the male world at the time. A fine and calming musical section, which is dominated by a delicate flute solo, is intended to illustrate this.

Now follows (from "N") the musical processing of a dark part of history: the war years. People are convicted, deported and lose their lives. The Kassa also has to go through difficult times. Musically, percussive ostinati, dark, threatening and shrill tones and dissonances are used. The “Raiffeisen Melody” is played in a tragic minor key version.

In the finale (from “P”), after a powerful musical build-up, the listener is presented with the “Raiffeisen Melody”, and thus the Raiffeisenkasse Kastelruth – St. Ulrich, in all its glory. On the one hand, the composition is a musical congratulations to the 130th anniversary of the Raiffeisenkasse, and on the other hand, it is a commemoration of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen, an honorable man who, with courage and dignity, gave a special kind of help and support to the weaker members of society.
