Composer Liadow, Anatole
Arranger Gasser, Fabian
Opus no. op.66
Difficulty level 5
Duration 8:47
Additional info/contents Anatoly Lyadov completed the score of his penultimate and lesser-known orchestral work, FRAGMENT FROM THE APOCALYPSE, op. 66, in 1912. The symphonic sound painting was premiered under the direction of Alexander Siloti at the Sixth Siloti Concert in St. Petersburg on December 8, 1912. The score was published in 1913 by the Belaiev music publishers in Leipzig. The transcription for symphonic wind orchestra by Fabian Gasser, in the original key, is very close to the original work. Only the passages for the high string instruments were partially included in the saxophone section in order to be able to reproduce the complete range of instruments and their fullness of sound as best as possible with a wind orchestra. Gasser inserted the second oboe part as a cue notation in the English horn part in order to be able to dispense with the originally prescribed second oboe if necessary. In the absence of a contrabassoon, the baritone saxophone part can also be used.
