Additional info/contents	The animated film "Kiki's Delivery Service" produced by Studio Ghibli was released in 1989. Six pieces are included from the original soundtrack: "A Town with an Ocean View", "Starting the Job", "Jeff", "Heartbroken Kiki", "The Old Man's Push Broom" and "Rendezvous on the Push Broom" have been edited for performance. This arrangement is written for a flexible five-part ensemble, so it can be performed with just five wind instruments. However, if more wind instruments are available, the sound can be enriched by adding the optional "high woodwind" and "percussion" parts. This selection is suitable for a variety of instrumentation, from small ensembles to full concert bands. About the performance: * When performing with the high woodwind parts "opt. A" and "opt. B", it is preferable not to include the flute in "Part 1" so as not to blur the contrast in the sound texture. * The "opt. B" part should only be used if "opt. A" is also used, as playing "opt. B" without "opt. A" can upset the balance. * The inclusion of A.Sax., Trp. or BbCl. in "Part 1" helps to stabilize the sound. * The dynamic piece "The Old Man's Push Broom" is particularly impressive when played by a full concert band. * Bracketed grace notes are provided as alternatives for difficult-to-play passages.
